The following provides a simple, step-by-step process for customers establishing new water service. If you are simply changing account information for service already established on a property, please see Transferring Account Information.

To apply for a new water meter:
  1. Obtain a plumbing permit
    1. Contact a licensed plumber to provide you with a permit
    2. If you are doing your own plumbing, you may obtain a permit at the State Plumbing Inspector’s Office in Butler County

Health Department at 104 N. Warren Street
      Morgantown, KY 42261
      (270) 526-3221.

      Office Hours: 8 a.m.-9:30 a.m. on Mondays
  2. Bring the plumbing permit to the Water System’s office
    1. If your plumber plans to deliver the permit to the Water System, please call our office at (270) 526-4656 to verify receipt before coming in
  3. Fill out the Application for Service
    1. This application includes a $450 fee for a standard 5/8” x 3/4” residential meter. For larger service sizes, see the chart below.
    1. After proper documentation and fees have been provided to BCWS, our representative will provide you with a wooden stake to mark where you want your meter to be installed. Once you have put the stake where you want the meter to be set, call our office to have our service personnel approve its location. Generally, after the stake's location is confirmed, installation is completed by our staff within two weeks of receiving the application.
